FAID Quantum combines two peer-reviewed biomathematical fatigue models
Organizations can set fatigue tolerance levels and assign relative risk levels to different duties
FAID Quantum is a fatigue assessment software suite and powerful analytical tool used to identify fatigue exposure and support the management of work hours within an organization’s fatigue management plan. Based on real-world data and scientific research, FAID Quantum has been successfully applied across a range of industries – including aviation, rail, mining, policing, emergency services, health, construction, energy and more. It supports proactive, reactive, and predictive fatigue risk management, aligning with international safety guidelines (for example, the ICAO standards in aviation). FAID Quantum combines two peer-reviewed biomathematical fatigue models – the FAID Standard model and the FAID Quantum model – to generate fatigue estimates on two scales: the FAID Score and the KSS (Karolinska Sleepiness Scale) Score. This “quantum leap forward” in fatigue modelling provides both a traditional fatigue exposure score and a scientifically-verified alertness prediction for each work period
Launched as an evolution of InterDynamics’ original FAID model (a global standard since the late 1990s), FAID Quantum set a new benchmark in 2016 by incorporating a second biomathematical model for alertness prediction. Utilizing two validated biomathematical models, it provides a richer overall understanding of fatigue exposure and alertness levels than a single model alone. Now, these capabilities are available to developers via a robust API – enabling third-party systems to integrate FAID Quantum’s fatigue analysis engine into their own applications and workflows. By submitting a work schedule (or multiple schedules) to the API for analysis, one can receive predicted sleep times, a summary of fatigue results for each shift, and an hour-by-hour log of fatigue scores (FAID Score and/or KSS) for the duration of the schedule. Time zone and circadian disruption effects can also be accounted for with specialized versions of the API, which adjust the fatigue calculations to the individual’s “body clock” time when travel across time zones is involved

Comprehensive fatigue analysis using both models (FAID Score + KSS output) for maximum insight.

Fatigue analysis using the FAID model only, providing the FAID Score metric for a simpler solution.

Time zone aware version of both the full FAID Quantum and FAID score only APIs are available
FAID Quantum’s API is simple to use and designed for fast integration. Below is an example of a basic fatigue analysis request using the FAID Score model. This request submits a three-day work schedule and applies standard fatigue tolerance thresholds.

"Integrating FAID Quantum’s fatigue models into our planning systems has been a game-changer. We now have fatigue insights exactly where and when we need them—at the point of decision."
